Langhorne means the borough plus Middletown Township, and the housing is a mix: Levittown sections on slabs, mid-century split-levels and ranchers, and developments from the 70s through the 90s with plywood subfloors and basements. The split-levels are the ones that test an installer. Three or four short flights, half-landings, a family room a few steps down from the kitchen, every one a place where a floor can end badly.
We plan those transitions before we quote. Where two levels meet at a landing, the plank direction and the nosings get worked out so the floor turns the corner cleanly. On the slab sections we do the moisture check and leveling the same as we do in Levittown; on the framed floors we screw down and flatten the plywood first. Kitchens, family rooms and whole-house runs are the bulk of our Langhorne work.
